Sharfly is a fairly new Facebook alternative for conservatives, while it's not designed or intended "Only" for conservatives most of its user base is in fact conservatives. The site was officially launched on January 1st 2020, by a 34 old male named Cale James. From my research Cale seems to be an entrepreneur from Michigan who is a freelance website and software developer for the last 18 years.

I have chatted with him a few times and overall seems like a nice guy. He developed Sharfly after being banned from Facebook for posting memes. This made him wonder how many millions of other people who have been banned for such a silly reason. While he doesn't have the millions to support a social platform he has bootstrapped the website with users donations and membership upgrades.

I asked him how much the site is currently costing to run and its around $100 a month, but this is with only having about 4,000 members. If the site ever gets traction he said "It's either going to fail due to a server overload or members will help support the websites bills".He also noted while it's unknown the exact cost you can estimate around $100 extra a month when the site hits 8,000 members. I also asked if he could give me any idea of the current donations and monthly subscriptions. He said "currently there is 7 members who pay $0.99 a month, 1 member who pays $4.99, and 2 members who pay $14.99". So about a total of $42 a month. He said Sharfly used to have Google AdSense but after 10 months of running ads on the site it had only generated $71 and removed the ads by Google. Quote "It's just not worth annoying the members with ads if it makes a penny a day".

While Sharfly isn't perfect it's still impressive for a one man show. I would love to see Sharfly have a mobile app but because the fact Apple and Google own both the marketplaces I could see some issues with Sharfly being on their platforms. I did ask Cale if he was planning on launching an app and he said "Yes but it might get removed due to Google and Apples TOS".

What I do like about Sharfly is the fact you can basically post anything, the only rule is:

" Rule #1 Don't post anything that can get me in trouble. " meaning Cale doesn't want to get thrown in jail for running a "Dark Web" type site.

As you can also see I enjoy blogging, but the main problem is I don't want to pay for a website just to post my random thoughts. I like going to Sharfly and being able to talk about anything I feel like. As you can see from my post history it's completely random. I want to help Cale in anyway I can so for an example I want to make some blog posts about how to use Sharfly even though it's simple for me to understand I can see some less tech savvy people getting lost with all it's features.

I believe a Facebook alternative with no censorship is way over due, and there's a few other options but Sharfly is by far the best in my mind. I just wish it had more members, so if you are reading this share Sharfly with your friends, family, and any other ways you can I would love to see Facebook crumble lol, but that's probably never going to happen.

Although I am pretty much computer illiterate I am going to give it a try. Facebook keeps banning me for comments about religion, I am not Christian!
